We require two x-rays prior to beginning treatment. These x-rays aid in accurate diagnosis. Some patients present to the practice unaware they have extra teeth sitting up inside the bone (supernumerary), missing teeth (agenesis), bone or tooth-root abnormalities. These issues occur within the bone and are not visible in the mouth, the only way to see if they are present is through the use of x-rays.
The outcome and type of orthodontic treatment patients are offered depends on accurate diagnosis and this can be achieved with the use of x-rays.
