Invisalign Clear Aligners
Invisalign treatment consists of a series of nearly invisible, removable plastic aligners. Each aligner is individually manufactured for your teeth, and your teeth only. As you replace each aligner, your teeth will move – little by little, week by week – until they have straightened to the final position prescribed by your Orthodontist.
We have the ability to scan patients at the consultation appointment to show an approximation of how teeth can look when aligned. Dr Goodyear uses the scan and 3D Clincheck software to plan the treatment of every Invisalign patient. This is how the custom-made, clear aligners are produced especially for you.
As the Invisalign aligners are transparent and difficult to detect when worn, they allow you to straighten your teeth without feeling self-conscious – and should you have an important meeting or event coming up that’s causing concern, you can always remove the aligners for that short space of time.
More that 5.5 million people worldwide have been treated with Invisalign clear aligners, proving it has become one of the most sort after orthodontic treatment options available.
Fast treatment for simple cases.
With our trade marked OrthoFast™ treatment option, braces are attached only to the teeth that need fixing, so you see faster results at less cost.
Because treatment with the OrthoFast™ option is quite fast we offer a choice of braces between stainless steel brackets or ceramic Clarity Advanced brackets attached to the outside of the teeth.
Some patients only need a short period of time with braces to straighten their front teeth only. Others may have had orthodontics before and only need a tidy up of the front teeth.
So if your back teeth are in a good position and you have a solid and stable bite, then a short period with our OrthoFast™ treatment option may be perfect for you.
These are becoming very popular with teenagers. This latest technology in aesthetic braces uses a small, comfortable ceramic bracket that is translucent and picks up the natural colour of your teeth!
Ceramic braces have come a long way in recent years and are a great option if you want to seriously minimise the appearance of your braces.
While they cost a little more to manufacture than the metal braces, a great combination is to get the ceramic braces for the upper teeth and to leave the metal braces on the lower teeth (which are often not shown even with a big smile). You can definitely mix and match the ceramic and metal braces this way.

The SomnoDent is designed to aid patients with mild to moderate sleep apnoea and who are unable to use or don’t require the use of a C-PAP machine. The SomnoDent is a Mandibular Advancement Split that is designed to prevent the lower jaw from falling back and down during sleep, thereby keeping the airway open and preventing snoring.
At the initial consultation Dr Goodyear will assess patients to ensure that the device is suitable and then take measurements and impressions to have the device manufactured. There is usually a three weeks turn around for the manufacture of the device. We then fit the appliance in our clinic and show our patients how to use it.
The device may be claimable under private health if the patient has been diagnosed with sleep apnoea by a Sleep Physician. This device is also suitable for a patient who doesn’t experience sleep apnoea and would simply like to eliminate the sound of snoring.
Limited earlier age treatment that can save a lot of complex issues and cost later on.
This treatment option is reserved for our younger patients, generally up to around 12 years of age.
We use powerful removable appliances to correct the jaws of those patients who experience jaw growth discrepancies. Jaw growth discrepancies result in a large distance developing between the top and bottom teeth or in an underbite, where the top teeth sit behind the lower teeth.
Jaw growth problems are evident particularly when viewing a patient’s profile.
At Toowong orthodontics we have a particular interest and experience with these removable appliances, using them to correct jaw imbalances in our younger patients for decades.
This will result in an improved facial profile and chin which can only be done when the child or teen is growing, so an early consultation is highly recommended.
If needed the jaw width is also orthopedically increased and this generally results in the keeping of permanent teeth that would otherwise need extraction.
Once the jaws have been corrected to the ideal position and shape, the patient typically has a year or so rest from the orthodontic treatment while the remaining permanent teeth erupt into the mouth.
If braces are needed to align crowded or rotated teeth, then this is done with fixed braces or aligners when all the permanent teeth have fully erupted.

Mini Uni-Twin Brackets
These metal braces are the ideal for all teens and adults wanting fast, economical and comfortable treatment results.
Metal braces have come a long way over the years and some kids and teens now even consider them a fashion statement.
Braces use constant but gentle pressure, which over time, moves your teeth. Your braces are at work every moment of your orthodontic treatment. The two main components of your braces are the individual brackets that are placed on your teeth and the archwire that connects them.
This Mini Uni-Twin is 30% smaller in size than a standard Twin orthodontic bracket and therefore is less obvious when you smile. The unique cut away design enables us to progress your treatment to full-sized archwires faster, while increasing patient comfort. The rounded corners make it easier for you to clean and adjust to.
The arch wires are held in place with small elastic bands which can be clear, metal coloured or coloured. If you’re feeling a bit wild you can choose a coloured elastic band from a rainbow of colours every visit. So you’re not stuck with the same colours the whole time your braces are on!
